Welcome To Rubissow-Sargent Winery Online

In the late 1970s, two U.C Berkeley PhDs with a passion for fine red wine hatched a plan to make limited production, true Bordeaux style artisan red wines in Northern California. Several years of careful research and planning followed, and by 1986, production began on small quantities of their Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, which the two friends sourced from Napa Valley’s rugged Mount Veeder Appellation.

Today, wine grower George Rubissow and winemaker Tony Sargent’s handmade wines enjoy acclaim for their elegance, complexity and consistent Mount Veeder terroir. Indeed, the wines are proudly featured in hundreds of America’s finest restaurants and wine shops and have received numerous accolades from the press, wine trade and wine collectors & appreciators in North America, Europe and Japan. We made this website to share with you the many facets of our two families’ ongoing partnership and the celebrated wines it produces. We hope you enjoy it!

NEXT GENERATION

The 2004 vintage was a landmark year for all of us at Rubissow- Sargent. It was the year the next generation began to take the helm from George and Tony. The resulting new wines will be released in early spring 2008. Expect to be pleasantly surprised. Meanwhile, Tony's splendid 2003 wines are the culmination of our two families' decades-long commitment to meticulous vine care and winemaking focused on rich complexity and authentic balance. Winemaking is a lifelong process of learning and improvement and our 03s represent the best of all we've collectively learned in wine. And the new 04s?
